How to cancel Skilario and try to get your money back

Cancelling Skilario takes a minute once you know who bills you. The refund is harder, because its terms rule out most of the usual reasons. Here is both, in the order that saves you money.

How to cancel Skilario and try to get your money back

Editorial note: Iro AI is our app. Where it appears below we say so, and it has to earn its spot by the same criteria as everything else.

Do this first

Cancel before you argue. Turning off auto-renewal is instant and nobody can refuse it. A refund is a request somebody else decides, and it can take days. Do them the other way round and you risk being charged again mid-conversation.

Skilario's terms say you keep access through the end of the period you have already been charged for, so there is nothing to gain by waiting. The deadline that matters is 24 hours before the renewal: the terms say a cancellation submitted later than that may not take effect until after the next charge has gone through.

First, work out who bills you, because that decides where you cancel:

  • You paid on skilario.com in a browser. Skilario bills you. Your phone settings will show nothing.
  • You subscribed inside the iPhone or Android app. Apple or Google bills you, and emailing Skilario will not stop the charge.

To check on iPhone: open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions. If Skilario is listed, it is an Apple subscription. If it is not, it is a website subscription.

Cancel a website subscription

  1. Log in to your account on skilario.com.
  2. Open your Web Profile.
  3. Go to the Subscriptions tab.
  4. Choose Turn off auto-renewal and confirm.

If you cannot log in or cannot find the option, Skilario's terms also accept a cancellation request through its contact form or by email to support@skilario.com. Send it from the address on the account, say plainly that you are cancelling, and ask for written confirmation with the effective date.

Screenshot the confirmation. A dated cancellation is what turns a later charge into one you can dispute.

Cancel on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Tap Skilario.
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription, then confirm.

If there is no Cancel button and the screen shows an expiry date instead, it is already cancelled and you are done. Screenshot the screen either way.

Cancel on Android

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Tap your profile icon, top right.
  3. Tap Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  4. Choose Skilario.
  5. Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.

While you are there, scan the rest of the list. This screen is where forgotten trials show up.

Still want to get good at AI, without the billing surprises?

Iro is free every day with no card. Pro is $49.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $9.99 a month, billed by Apple, so cancelling is the same Settings route described above.

What the refund policy allows

Read this before you write the email, because it decides what to ask for. Skilario's terms say it does not refund:

  • a change of mind,
  • a subscription that has not been used, or
  • dissatisfaction on its own.

The one contractual route is a confirmed technical fault that stops the service working as described and cannot be fixed within a reasonable time. You have to give enough technical detail to reproduce it, and a refund is approved only once Skilario has confirmed the fault.

Statutory rights sit on top of that, and the terms list several:

  • California and Connecticut: cancel within three business days of purchase for a full refund.
  • Brazil and Quebec: seven days from purchase.
  • Argentina: ten days.
  • Mexico: an immediate cancellation right.

Other statutory rights where you live can apply too; the terms say local cancellation rules take priority where they exist.

One clause has a clock on it. If you think a charge is wrong, you must tell Skilario in writing at support@skilario.com within 14 calendar days of the transaction, and the terms say missing that window may forfeit your right to dispute the charge with them. If you are inside 14 days, send the email today.

Getting the money back

Ask whoever actually took the payment. The routes are not equally good.

Charged through the App Store

Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the charge and choose Request a refund. Pick the reason that is true, usually that you did not mean to subscribe or did not realise it would renew. Apple decides App Store refunds under its own rules, not under Skilario's refund policy, so the unused-subscription exclusion does not bind Apple. It costs nothing to ask.

Charged through Google Play

Open play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions, find the order and request a refund. Google's own window is short, so do it today. After it closes, Google refers you to the developer.

Charged on the website

Email support@skilario.com within 14 days of the charge. Include the date, the amount, the last four digits of the card and the account email, and say which ground you are relying on: a technical fault, with the details, or a statutory cooling-off right if one applies where you live. Ask for a specific outcome, a refund of a specific amount, rather than an explanation.

If you have no qualifying ground, ask anyway, politely and once, then move on rather than trading emails for weeks.

If you are refused

Contact your card issuer about a chargeback, with your cancellation screenshot, the charge date and the amount. Skilario's 14-day clause governs disputes raised with Skilario; your card issuer runs its own dispute process under its own rules and deadlines. Chargebacks go better when you can show you asked the merchant first, which is one more reason to send that email. You can also report the charge to the FTC in the US, or your national consumer authority elsewhere.

What to use instead

Iro AI is our app, so read this as an interested party talking. If what you wanted from Skilario was to genuinely get better at using AI, Iro does it by practice rather than reading: you write real prompts in the Prompt Lab and get them scored, learn to spot AI mistakes, and build the habit with streaks, ranks and timed duels.

On billing, since that is what brought you here: Iro is free to start, with a battery that gives you a full lesson every day and recharges overnight. Pro is $9.99 a month or $49.99 a year, the annual plan includes a 7-day free trial, and it is billed by Apple, so cancelling is the same two taps described above rather than an email thread. There is no intro rate that converts to a higher one.

If you would rather spend nothing right now, the AI rank quiz is ten questions and about two minutes, no signup and no card. If you are choosing from scratch, start with our guide to the best app to learn AI. FAQ

How do I cancel Skilario?

It depends where you signed up. On the website, log in at skilario.com, open your Web Profile, go to the Subscriptions tab and choose Turn off auto-renewal, at least 24 hours before your renewal; you can also email support@skilario.com. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap Skilario and Cancel Subscription. On Android, open the Play Store, tap your profile icon, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, choose Skilario and cancel.

Can I get a refund from Skilario?

Skilario's terms exclude refunds for a change of mind, a subscription you have not used, or dissatisfaction alone, and consider one only for a confirmed technical fault. Statutory rights can override that: three business days in California and Connecticut, seven days in Brazil and Quebec, ten in Argentina. If you paid through the App Store, ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, because Apple applies its own rules.

Skilario charged me after I cancelled. What do I do?

Find your cancellation confirmation and note its date. If you paid on the website, email support@skilario.com within 14 days of the charge with the date, the amount and your confirmation. If you paid through Apple or Google, request the refund from them. If you are refused, contact your card issuer about a chargeback.

Do I lose access as soon as I cancel?

No. Skilario's terms say you keep access through the end of the period you have already been charged for. Cancel as soon as you decide, because a cancellation made less than 24 hours before the renewal may not stop that charge.

What is the Skilario support email?

support@skilario.com. Skilario's terms require billing disputes to be sent there in writing within 14 calendar days of the charge.
