Prompt engineering

A prompt engineering app built for daily practice.

Prompt engineering is a skill you build by doing. Iro gives you short exercises, Prompt Lab feedback, and realistic AI tasks so better prompting becomes a habit.

Why prompt engineering needs active practice

Prompt engineering is not just writing a clever sentence. It is the process of turning an intention into instructions an AI system can follow, then evaluating whether the result is accurate, useful, and safe enough for the task. That requires repetition.

Iro breaks the skill into small decisions: define the goal, provide context, choose constraints, request a useful format, ask for critique, and verify the output. The app reinforces those decisions through exercises, XP, and daily challenges.

Skills covered

  • Prompt structure and specificity.
  • Context packing and examples.
  • Output formats for briefs, tables, checklists, plans, and drafts.
  • Critiquing AI answers and identifying hallucinations.
  • Adapting prompts for different tools and use cases.

Why Iro is different from a prompt library

A prompt library can give you starting points, but it cannot build judgment by itself. Iro is designed to make users practice the thinking behind the prompt: what information matters, what the model may misunderstand, and how to improve the next attempt.

How much prompt practice is actually in there

Prompt Lab is the centrepiece: you write a real prompt, it goes to a live model, and you get it back graded on what is weak and why. Around it sits the rest of the curriculum, 29 learning paths, 477 lessons and 3,000+ hands-on exercises across 24 exercise types, with a dedicated Prompt Engineering path plus tool paths for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok and Copilot.

Alongside it: Ask Iro for chat and voice coaching on what you got wrong, timed AI Duels against a skill-matched opponent, an Image Lab for practising image prompts, Custom Paths that build a course from a topic, a TikTok, YouTube or Reddit link, any web page, a post shared straight from TikTok or Instagram, a screenshot or a PDF, and certificates you earn free and claim with Pro. Every path is open on the free tier, paced by a battery that gives you a full lesson a day.

Questions people ask

Does Iro include a prompt library?

The in-app prompt library is part of Iro Pro. Iro leads with active prompt practice and guided lessons rather than only providing static templates, and there is a free prompt library on this site as well.

Can prompt engineering help with Claude and Gemini too?

Yes. The same core skills, context, constraints, examples and evaluation, apply across many AI tools.

Is Prompt Lab free or Pro?

Prompt Lab is part of Iro Pro. The free tier gives you every learning path with one full lesson a day, plus the Daily Challenge, weekly AI news and a free taste of Ask Iro.
