Choosing an AI tool: common questions

Which AI should I use?

It depends on the job you do most. ChatGPT is the safest all-rounder, Claude is strongest for writing and code, Perplexity is best when you need sources you can check, Gemini fits best if your work lives in Google, and Copilot fits best if it lives in Microsoft 365. The picker above weighs your answers and names one tool plus a runner-up.

Is this picker free, and do I need to sign up?

It's free and there is no sign-up. Your answers stay in your browser; nothing you pick is sent to us.

Should I pay for an AI tool?

Usually not to start. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity all have free tiers that cover most people's first few months. Pay only when you keep hitting a limit on the one you use most.

Is it safe to put work documents into an AI tool?

Check your employer's policy first. If your company provides an approved AI tool, use that one for work data. Don't paste confidential or personal data into a personal account on any of these tools.

Why does using the tool well matter more than which tool I pick?

The leading assistants are close enough that how you prompt, check and iterate changes your results more than switching tools does. That skill is AI fluency, and it carries over to whichever tool you choose.
